Crocodiles : 'Sleep Forever'

Released:5th July 2010
Label: Fat Possum Records
Despite possessing a dream-like summer atmosphere, “Sleep Forever” fails to offer up much else. Listenable and not without it's charm, there is little to here to capture the imagination.
With it's eighties throwback shared vocals and persistent drumbeats, the retro fan is sure to be partly satisfied with Crocodiles' latest effort. Paying something of a homage to The Stone Roses, it is certainly relaxed.
Yet strip away the basic rhythms and pleasant voices and you are left with little else to carry the track. The melody lacks consideration, bland and often lifeless guitaring forming the crux, whilst the fluctuating keyboards that anchors it becomes nothing short of irritating come the conclusion.
There is little to dislike about “Sleep Forever”, and it often proves a fairly pleasant listen. Yet, crucially, there is also little to really get excited about.
