Whats New?

Gorillaz Video Screening : Gathered in a small studio in London’s Soho, you have to wonder what could possibly be so impressive about the new Gorillaz video that Britain’s journalists have been shepherded together for a screening. New single “On Melancholy Hill”...
Introducing : Glass Animals : www.4ortherecord.com hit fever pitch this weekend when not 1 but 2 new tracks from the incredible Glass Animals graced our inbox with their presence...
David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...
Lunar Youth : Interview : Lunar Youth make the kind of music that makes your heart skip a beat as the emphasis on romance engulfs you in a warm flurry of emotion. It’s really rather lovely. Their nostalgic take on pop, reminiscent of the 80’s penchant for...

Deadmau5 vs. Melleefresh : 'Attention Whore'

Deadmau5 vs. Melleefresh : 'Attention Whore'

Released: 14th September 2009

Label: Play Records

Melleefresh isn’t just an ‘Attention Whore,’ she’s a bitch of cyber proportions. Not my words, but hers. She’s delicious, viscous and oh so scene. Then she’ll make you itch and have a wet dream. Sounds painful, right? Well yeah, she can make you hurt too. And, all the time, she’s the “one you’re looking for.” Funny that.

Bitchiness pushed to the corner of the dance floor, Mellefresh has teamed up with Canadian Joel Zimmerman aka Deadmau5 for an electro house epidemic of a track. Creeping in with kaleidoscopic keyboards and swirling your senses with its sliding synths, you aren’t quite ready for the patronising, demanding yet child-like lyrics of Melleefresh.

With her Peaches-like demeanour it sounds like she’s caught only-child-syndrome (okay, it’s not a classified term, but you know what I mean, right). “I am the one with the velvet lips” she purrs, before edging into “I’m the big attention whore” – all the while the bleeping bass acts as background.

‘Attention Whore’ is definitely a demented dance ditty and if you like things harder, better, or faster, stronger, then the radio edit may tickle your pickle more. And, if your pickle isn’t tickled, or you’ve not had enough whorish attention, then the dirtier, whisper-warping, bass-ballooning Zoltan Kontes & Jerome Robins Bootylicious mix, may just be your cup of craving.
