David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...

Elliot Minor : 'Electric high'

Elliot Minor : 'Electric high'

Released: 5th October 2009

Label: Sony

I’ve never been able to successfully put Elliot Minor into a specific category of music. They’re not entirely welcome in the world of Rock for their parallels with the pop likes of McFly but such comparisons undersell these boys who are a little more mature and musically challenging for the tweeny pop rock types. So I guess they’re left floating in the ether for now.

Their latest single, 'Electric High', rings in a more mature sounding Elliot Minor. So much so that the bands past singles appear immature in comparison. The lyrics are a little more serious, the riffs are melodic and the chorus encourages one hell of a sing along. Overall: it’s a little less irritating.

The change isn’t drastic. This slightly more mature Elliot Minor will still attract all the fans that loved the likes of 'Parallel Worlds' and 'Jessica', but it’s definitely a step in the right direction for a band destined for great things.
