Whats New?

Gorillaz Video Screening : Gathered in a small studio in London’s Soho, you have to wonder what could possibly be so impressive about the new Gorillaz video that Britain’s journalists have been shepherded together for a screening. New single “On Melancholy Hill”...

David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...
Lunar Youth : Interview : Lunar Youth make the kind of music that makes your heart skip a beat as the emphasis on romance engulfs you in a warm flurry of emotion. It’s really rather lovely. Their nostalgic take on pop, reminiscent of the 80’s penchant for...

Enter Shikari : 'Juggernauts'

Enter Shikari : 'Juggernauts'

After two headline UK tours, a headlining slot at this year’s Give It A Name festival and releasing a single no more than six months ago, you’d think now would be the time for the St. Alban boys to lay low and plan their second album release but shockingly it’s already done.

Follow up to the 2007 epic 'Take to the Skies', ‘Common Dreads’ is out in a few short weeks and debut single ‘Juggernauts’ makes a surprisingly unpredictable first impression.

As furious as the song is from the get go, it’s hard to gauge what kind of song 'Juggernauts' really is. Whilst for the most part it’s an experimental blend of what you might expect from a matured Enter Shikari, only swap the chunky looming guitar riffs and tones that made songs like ‘Sorry you’re not a Winner’ so breath taking and replace with a dash extra of drum and bass thrown in there. It’s different, but not entirely off-putting.

What is off-putting is the near 60 seconds of spoken dialogue as singer Rou Reynolds chokes out heartfelt drab about relationships and consumerism which will most likely go over the heads of the fans of Enter Shikari’s quirky style.

It isn’t the best example of the bands work and it paints a slightly odd picture for the fate of 'Common Dreads', here’s hoping when the album lands it might help us make sense of our puzzled reaction to 'Juggernauts'.

‘Juggernauts’ will be available on June 1st, and the album ‘Common Dreads’ will follow on June 15th released by Ambush Reality.
