FANTASY ISLAND
a celebration of Balearic beats
@ CAMINO
LAUNCHES FRIDAY 30TH OCTOBER 2009
w/ ANDY CARROLL (CREAM, MANUMISSION, IBIZA)
& resident RICHARD NORRIS
8PM – 2AM // FREE

Summer is a fast fading memory, but fear not - Fantasy Island is here to bring some winter sunshine into your life.
Fantasy Island is a new series of free monthly Balearic parties at noted Spanish bar and restaurant Camino in King’s Cross. Each month Fantasy Island will bring you the very best Balearic beats, featuring DJs firmly associated with Ibiza, alongside Camino’s great food and drinks.
Camino – tucked away in a beautiful courtyard in the heart of King’s Cross - will be hosting six Fantasy Island events from October to March 2010. Fantasy Island will mix legendary pioneers of the Balearic genre with the current breed of artists and DJs inspired by the sound. Alongside the free parties will be a special New Year’s Eve spectacular, featuring Loft/Body and Soul resident DJ Cosmo playing a special Balearic set, and the stunning live band Latin Dub Soundsystem
The first Fantasy Island on Friday 30th October features guest DJ Andy Carroll who will be joining resident DJ and curator Richard Norris.
Andy Carroll has been a resident DJ in Ibiza for many seasons. Andy has played at pretty much every white island venue worth going to, including residencies at Cream, Space, Manumission, Ibiza Rocks and countless others. A 100% Balearic DJ we are proud to bring to London.
Richard Norris was first journalist to write about the Balearic scene in the UK music press, when NME ran his article on Ibiza in the late eighties. He was also in The Grid, who released a string of hit dance singles including the million-selling ‘Swamp Thing’. Richard has DJ’ed in Ibiza at Manumission, Space, the Underground, Manumission Motel and the Rock Bar. He was a panellist at 2008 and 2009’s Ibiza International Music Conference, regularly DJs around Europe, and records with Erol Alkan as Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve, and as a solo artist as The Time and Space Machine (Tirk Records). The Grid’s ‘Floatation’ - a Balearic classic - will soon be re-released on New State.
There will be a free 11 track promo CD ‘Viva Camino Vol 3: Fantasy Island; 100% Balearic Beats’, compiled by Richard, available free for the first 100 people on each night. The CD features tracks from the cream of the new European Balearic scene.
Fantasy Island would like to thank Sagres.
