Whats New?

Gorillaz Video Screening : Gathered in a small studio in London’s Soho, you have to wonder what could possibly be so impressive about the new Gorillaz video that Britain’s journalists have been shepherded together for a screening. New single “On Melancholy Hill”...
Introducing : Glass Animals : www.4ortherecord.com hit fever pitch this weekend when not 1 but 2 new tracks from the incredible Glass Animals graced our inbox with their presence...
David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...
Lunar Youth : Interview : Lunar Youth make the kind of music that makes your heart skip a beat as the emphasis on romance engulfs you in a warm flurry of emotion. It’s really rather lovely. Their nostalgic take on pop, reminiscent of the 80’s penchant for...

Go:Audio: 'Drive To The City'

Go:Audio: 'Drive To The City'

Although I don’t like this band or song very much, I’m not going to be mean about them- because that’s not very nice , is it?

I’ve actually heard a few songs by Go:Audio prevously and thought they were American. I’ve only just found out that they’re not!

Anyway, their new song 'Drive To The City' is your typical pop song. It’s bouncy and quite repetitive.  Actually when I first played this, I thought my laptop had gone a bit funny (it does that quite a lot, its pretty crap!) because the intro sounds like it’s skipping.

However despite that I reckon at their live shows (they’re doing a handful of dates in the UK in April) I am sure this song will cause a mass sing-a-long.

Musically it sounds like The Killers and I dislike the Killers, but personal taste aside - Go:Audio have managed to create a solid, dedicated fan base in only a few years, which is pretty impressive. It’s all down to their MySpace page, which they use for creating polls for fans to decide what b-sides to use and what artwork to use. They either care about their fans or they are lazy! I like to think it’s the former.

Their debut album is out in May and is going to be released on their own record label.
