Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...

Kid Sister : 'Right Hand Hi'

Kid Sister : 'Right Hand Hi'

Released: Out Now!!!

Label: Downtown/Fools Gold

If you haven't heard of Kid Sister, you sure will have soon. Brandishing the breed of dance/rap crossover that infects dance floors the world over, her new single will undoubtedly be deafening drunken dancers in the very near future. Mates with Kanye, bursting with attitude, she certainly has the required credentials.

Oh yes, the music. As to be expected there are plenty of  over excitable synths and thudding bass lines to contend with, none of which really hint at much individuality or creativity. The chorus is of course annoyingly catchy, making up for a lack of substance with a relentless synth melody and some husky vocals.

Despite being sturdy and accompanying the track sufficiently, it is probably fair to say that theses vocals will not set jaws dropping. With a decent tone and the required amount of attitude for her rapping, Kid Sister's singing does the job for the short chorus, rarely breaking out of her comfort zone.

Yet these things must be looked at objectively; whether people like the track or not is somewhat irrelevant, for it is going to be huge. Despite the rehashed melody and generic vocals, it is easy to see yourself dancing along, drink in hand on a night out. Fair play to the girl.
