Whats New?

Gorillaz Video Screening : Gathered in a small studio in London’s Soho, you have to wonder what could possibly be so impressive about the new Gorillaz video that Britain’s journalists have been shepherded together for a screening. New single “On Melancholy Hill”...

David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...

Lady Gaga : 'Bad Romance'

Lady Gaga : 'Bad Romance'

Released: Out Now!!!

Label: Interscope Records

I have a lot of respect for Ms. Gaga. She’s certainly generated a lot of interest with her bizarre get ups, catchy songs, outlandish stage shows all of which have peaked the media’s curiosity for this bizarre songstress . No doubt about it, when she chose to title her debut album ‘The Fame’, she knew that it was coming her way and by the truck load. Love or hate her, Lady Gaga has carved herself a niche that’s been the key to her growing popularity.

All this praise that gushes out of me makes her latest effort ‘Bad Romance’ all the more disappointing. It’s not Lady Gaga’s latest isn’t bad song but it lacks a pulse, something which all of her prior singles had.  In comparison to the likes of 'Poker Face' or'Just Dance', this just sounds empty and the unnatural interruption of "Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah/Roma-roma-mah/Gaga-oh-là-là" just seems phoned in rather than anything to do with character. I know that Lady Gaga is the kind of artist to take a typical song and beat it around with the ‘crazy stick’ but without said gobbledygook, 'Bad Romance' could easily be passed onto any other female artist in her demographic.

Simply put, 'Bad Romance' is an easily forgettable tune which Lady Gaga can only hope doesn’t stain her credible reputation.
