Whats New?

Gorillaz Video Screening : Gathered in a small studio in London’s Soho, you have to wonder what could possibly be so impressive about the new Gorillaz video that Britain’s journalists have been shepherded together for a screening. New single “On Melancholy Hill”...
Introducing : Glass Animals : www.4ortherecord.com hit fever pitch this weekend when not 1 but 2 new tracks from the incredible Glass Animals graced our inbox with their presence...
David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...
Lunar Youth : Interview : Lunar Youth make the kind of music that makes your heart skip a beat as the emphasis on romance engulfs you in a warm flurry of emotion. It’s really rather lovely. Their nostalgic take on pop, reminiscent of the 80’s penchant for...

Stiff Little Fingers: The Sugarmill

Stiff Little Fingers

Where: The Sugarmill, Stoke

When: 18th March 2010

Going to a gig with your Mum and Dad is probably not the idea of a great night out for many people. The same can’t be said however for a Stiff Little Fingers gig!  Being around since the seventies and still making and performing great music means that Stiff Little Fingers have fans of all ages that come to their shows.

Their gig at the Sugarmill in Hanley was no different. Having sold out tickets fast it was no wonder that the venue was packed to capacity with punk rockers both young and old.  Age wasn’t an issue however while the Stiff Little Fingers were on stage. The energy with which both band and audience were bursting with was the makings of a great night!

From the moment the band started the beers went flying as the entire audience turned into a sea of bodies jumping, dancing and singing along to the well-known songs.

The crowd kept up the turmoil with fists in the air and a smile on their faces through much loved anthems such as 'Silver Lining', 'Barbed Wire Love', and 'Alternative Ulster' and didn’t stop moving until they had left the stage and were out of sight.

If you liked Stiff Little Fingers way back when they first started up, then you would have still loved them at the Sugarmill. After over 30 years of Irish punk rock pleasure for the ears this band are still doing what they love and still doing a great job at it as well!
