Wild Beasts : 'All The King’s Men'

It seems that sometimes less is more in the music business.  The simpler the better.  This is certainly true of Wild Beasts second single ‘All The King’s Men’ of the highly praised album ‘Two Dancers’.   

Commencing with a strong yet simple tom drumbeat, then almost instantly the shimmering sound of a few organ and guitar notes are no sooner upon you.  The trademark falsetto vocals that follow are still dominant and instantly recognisable, however this time Hayden Thorpe’s vocals play back-up.  The leading role is taken by Tom Flemming with his beefy baritone vocals that recite "...girls from Roedean, girls from Shipley, girls from Hounslow, girls from Whitby."  From this it is evident the ongoing saga with women still continues.  

Wild Beasts feel like a breath of fresh air with their battling baritone and falsetto vocals, whilst still creating a minimalist effect with their music. It gives the ears sufficient time to take in the full range of sounds.  I think this may only just be the beginning of something special for Wild Beasts if songs this good continue.
