Whats New?

Gorillaz Video Screening : Gathered in a small studio in London’s Soho, you have to wonder what could possibly be so impressive about the new Gorillaz video that Britain’s journalists have been shepherded together for a screening. New single “On Melancholy Hill”...

David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...
Lunar Youth : Interview : Lunar Youth make the kind of music that makes your heart skip a beat as the emphasis on romance engulfs you in a warm flurry of emotion. It’s really rather lovely. Their nostalgic take on pop, reminiscent of the 80’s penchant for...

Wolf Gang : 'Pieces of You'

Wolf Gang : 'Pieces of You'

Released: Out Now!!!

Label: Neon Gold Records

Max McElligot aka Wolf Gang is a part German, Part Irish dropout who now dabbles in the worlds of indie and pop, writing and producing tracks like ‘Pieces of You’ that are ear-pleasing, chilled out, altogether decent tunes.

The different parts of McElligot may make up (in some bizarre alternate way) for his musical influences. First release ‘Pieces of You’ starts with staggered staccato guitars and mind-curving cymbals whilst building up a hefty bass, which together sound like a rough-edged Mama’s and Papa’s style intro.

This is music for any occasion: the screeching vocal extensions on the word “keep” cry for a dirty warehouse crowd, whilst the lyrical bouts of “just dance to the beat now honey” and “I’ve got pieces of you in my hand” conjure images of putty-like party players sliming across a sequin strewn dance floor.

And, if that wasn’t enough, B-side ‘The Kill’ brings you a fusion of electronic whistles, whimsical pop vocals and clued-up keys.
